REACH Declaration

The REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) regulation 1907/2006 came into force on June 1st 2007. REACH aims to improve knowledge on the properties of chemical substances and the risks related to their use. Full implementation of all REACH measures is required by the EU over the coming 11 years.

At Beaulieu Technical Textiles, all measures are in place to ensure REACH compliancy, to monitor further developments in the REACH regulations, and to assure continued compliance.

As a downstream user of dyestuffs and chemicals, we are not responsible for the (pre)registration of these chemicals nor for their risk assessment. However, we are required to inform our suppliers of the applications for which we use their products (identified uses). Hence we cooperate closely with our suppliers and monitor their progress with respect to REACH compliancy. We have also made an inventory of our dyestuffs/chemicals, which enables us to react rapidly to any change in the supply chain.

Our textile products are “articles” and therefore not subject to registration obligations, with the exception of the intended released chemical substances (not included in our article range). The European Chemical Agency (ECHA) regularly publishes a list of substances of very high concern (SVHC) on the Candidate List. All required communications are linked to this official list. Should one of our articles (textile products) contain such a substance in concentrations greater than 0.1% (w/w), we will notify our customers.

BTT will also start an active search for an alternative solution to substances used that are on the Candidate List. Moreover, our textile products comply with all the restrictions contained in annex XVII of the REACH Regulation. To the best of our knowledge and that of our (European and non-European) suppliers, we presently are not using any of the substances on the Candidate List.
